Courses Taught and Evaluations
Below is a list of courses I have taught since September 2015:
Cal Poly evaluates instructors on two 5-point scales, on a range from one (lowest) to five (highest). The first scale is on Performance and Learning Environment and the second scale is a Summary Evaluation. My typical range for both of these is between 4.5 and 4.8. To put this into context, the college average is typically between 4.15 and 4.25.
Here are a few comments from students about my effectiveness:
- Twenty-one sections of BUS 391 - Information Systems. This course is required for all students at the college of business.
- Three sections of BUS 470 – Technology Supported Collaboration. This is an IS elective I created in the winter of 2015, and I teach the course once per year.
- Four sections of BUS 499 – Data Communications & Networking. This is a standard IS elective and I teach the course approximately once per year.

Here are a few comments from students about my effectiveness:
- Strongly recommend Prof. Kocsis. He was always willing to help and go the extra mile to ensure that his students felt comfortable. Coming into this course I was thinking it would be a boring GE. Kocsis made this class enjoyable and interactive. I cannot thank him enough for all the help he provided and for the great person/character that he demonstrated!
- I am confident that Kocsis is an amazing teacher. I know you want constructive comments, but I think it must be read/stated. Professor Kocsis is one of the best Professors I have had at Cal Poly. His ability to adapt to unexpected situations, and turn them into something amazing is impeccable. His presentation style is lively and interesting. If he were ever to be fired/replaced I believe it would be a HUGE undermining of the quality of OCOB's Information System's department.
- Kocsis is a good professor and really cares about his students. He is always willing to answer any questions and is readily available during his office hours…Overall, I enjoyed Professor Kocsis; he made me more interested in Information Systems.
